una princesa de una Galaxia muy lejana.

a princess from a far away galaxy.

Llevar uno de estos vestidos debe ser un recorrido en el espacio-tiempo, en nuestras historias de hadas favoritas, las más frías, las más cálidas. Aunque bueno, lo que sí que es un cuento es conseguir llevarlos puestos alguna vez en nuestra vida; menos mal que soñar es gratis (aunque sólo en lo que respecta a dinero).

En este post os traigo algunas de las piezas que más me están gustando de la semana de la Alta Costura en París para la temporada de Primavera/Verano 2016. Y creedme, cuesta elegir entre tanto artista.

Wearing one of these dresses must be a journey in space and time, into our favorite fairy tale, the coldest one, the warmest one. Although it's true that the real fairy tale is having the chance to wear one of these once in your lifetime; luckily, to dream is free (but only when it comes to money).

In this post I'm showing you some of the pieces that I've like the most from the Haute Couture Week in Paris for the Spring/Summer (2016) season. And believe me, it's hard to choose just some of them among so many artists.

Valentino

Sin duda alguna, mi colección favorita ha sido la de Valentino. Estoy totalmente enamorada, ese toque de Diosa del Olimpo, yendo desde tonos más oscuros con un verde militar, pasando por estampados con colores rojizos apagados, hasta un blanco tan de la mismísima reina Gorgo de la antigua Esparta.

Without a doubt, my favorite collection has been Valentino's one. I'm absolutely in love, that touch of Olympus Goddess, going from darker shades with army green and red patterns in muted colors, to those white dresses that only the queen Gorgo, from the very ancient Sparta, could wear.

Como no, cuando hablaba de ninfas al principio del post claramente me refería a los vestidos de Elie Saab. Da igual que hablemos de una colección de este año, o de hace ya, todos sus vestidos están destinados a que los lleve un hada, una elfa, o la más delicada de las princesas. Son sencillamente sublimes. Y este año, una vez más, han continuado siéndolo.

Yep, you're not wrong, when I mentioned nymphs at the beginning I was clearly referring to Elie Saab's dresses. It doesn't matter if we're talking about a collection from this year, or longer ago. All his dresses are destined to be worn by a fairy, an elf, or the most delicate princess. They are simply sublime. And this year, once again, have remained so.

Y en lo que respecta a princesas de otras galaxia solo hace falta ver los peinados de nuestras modelos en la pasarela de Chanel: Princesas Leias vestidas de todos los colores y con esos tejidos tan Coco, que Karl sabe mantener a la perfección combinándolos de la forma más ingeniosa.

And when it comes to princesses from other galaxies you just need to see the hairstyles that Chanel's models are wearing: Princesses Leias dressed in all colours and such Coco-like fabrics, which Karl knows how to keep perfectly combining them in the most ingenious ways.

No me olvido de Dior, y es que no solo por esos zapatos de tacón tan maravillosos sino que esta colección tiene prendas que enamoran, recorriendo sobretodo desde el azul noche hasta el negro, enfriándonos un poco la primavera y el verano de la forma más bonita. Encajes, transparencias, estampados mezclados, como para no ser uno de mis favoritos.

I don't forget Dior, and not just because of those wonderful heeled shoes, but also because this collection has clothes that make you instantly fall in love with them. Going from blue to black night, cooling down spring and summer in the most beautiful way. Lace, see-through clothing, mixed prints, it's impossible to not adore them.

III Pasarela de Moda Solidaria. (Cruz Roja)

Están esos días en el que las fotos salen un poco peor, y luego están esos días en los que la cámara pasa de ti, te duele la barriga, no consigues ajustar la luz, enfocas como si llevaras veinte copas de whisky en vena, y un largo etcétera de desdichadas declaraciones. Pero bueno, también están esos días, en los que de repente improvisas un plan y da igual que tengas que estudiar, que tu barriga te lo impida, y otro etcétera, te encabezonas en él y punto.

El viernes 16 se fusionaron estas dos situaciones, y asistí a la III Pasarela de Moda Solidaria de la Cruz Roja. Se trataba de un evento que reunía las colecciones de diseñadores jóvenes de Granada (y alrededores) y que a su vez destinaba el dinero a la Cruz Roja. Como ya he dicho antes, la cámara estaba anárquica aquel día, pero he cogido algunas fotos que incluyen algunos de los looks que más me gustaron.

La primera colección Lágrimas de mar era de Tania Romero. Estaba especialmente inspirada en las medusas, y en el mundo marino en general. Creo que lo que más me gusto era el hecho de que usara cangrejeras para completar sus looks. Era una colección plagada de tonos fucsia, azules, lila, con unos cortes muy originales, y formas. Por desgracia de ella he rescatado muy pocas fotos decentes (maldita luz).

There is that kind of days in which the photos look a bit worse, and then there are those days when the camera doesn't give a damn about you, you have a big stomachache, you don't get the correct light, you focus as if you've drunk twenty glass of whisky, and a long list of unfortunate statements. Well, there are also those days when you suddenly improvise a plan and it doesn't matter how much you must to study or that your belly is like dying, you do it and that's all.

  

On Friday 16 these two situations fuse, and I went to the III Solidarity Fashion Catwalk from Cruz Roja. It was an event that gathers together the collections of young designers from Granada (and surroundings) and that earnmark money to the Cruz Roja. As I said before, the camera was anarchic that day, but I've choosen some photos that include some of the looks I liked the most.

  

The first collection Lágrimas de mar (Tears from the Sea) was from Tania Romero. It was especially inspired by jellyfish and the sea world in general. I think that the thing I've like the most it's the fact that models wear jelly shoes to complete their looks. It was a collection full of fuchsia, blue, lilac colours, with very original forms and cuts. Unfortunately, I've rescued very few decent photos (damn light).

Esta falda que vemos aquí, a mí me enamoró la verdad, pertenece a la colección WANTED de Lola Contreras. Se trataba de una colección inspirada en la película de Django (eso sí que es una buena inspiración). La mayoría de la línea mantenía colores militares y marrones, añadiendo otros looks, como el de dos piezas, con colores más llamativos, creando un contraste genial.

This skirt we see here, I fell in love with it. It belongs to the collection of Lola Contreras WANTED. It was a collection inspired by the film Django (ok, yep, that's a good inspiration). Fully of military line and brown colors, adding other looks like two pieces, with more brilliant colors, creating a great contrast.

Estos dos looks pertenecen a Emmer. La verdad, ese abrigo oversize me enamoró totalmente, seguido de ese dos piezas, que en la foto no se aprecia bien pero tenía un estampado la tela, totalmente maravilloso, de cuento de "Las Mil y una Noches".

These two looks belong to Emmer. The truth, that I totally love that oversize coat, followed by the two pieces in the photo, which is not appreciated well but it has a printed completely wonderful which seems from a tale of "The Arabian Nights".

La verdad, creo que esta colección fue de mis favoritas, pero no encuentro el nombre por ningún lado, así como la diseñadora, que creo que es Amparo Fernández (pero tampoco encuentro información en internet, así que soy un completo desastre). Estaba inspirada en las vestimentas de hace décadas, así como looks más masculinos con toque de la época victoriana, totalmente preciosos. (Eso sí, yo en vez de esos gorros de lana verde, hubiese añadido un recogido con trenzas.)

The truth is that I think this is one of my favourite collections, but I can't find the collection name anywhere, neither the designer, I think it's Amparo Fernández (but I don't find information on internet, so yep, I'm a completely disaster). It was inspired by the clothes of decades ago, and also looks more masculine with a touch of the Victorian era, totally lovely. (Instead of those green wool hats I thought models should wear braids updos or something like that).

De la colección de Claudina Mata (más información aquí) me quedé especialmente con este look, que me gustó demasiado. Lo veo ideal para la primavera, para el verano, desde la corona de flores hasta los culottes. Supongo que serán las flores rojas, que allá donde se pongan aparece una Clara encandilada.

From Claudina Mata collection (more here) I like too much this look. It's perfect for spring, for summer, from the flower crown to the culottes. I guess it's because of the red flowers, if you put them in an outfit Clara always will fall in love.

Por otro lado, tenemos la colección Murgen de Mercedes Mercado (más información aquí). Ya había visto otras colecciones de esta diseñadora, y la verdad, siempre me va a gustar. Ésta especialmente, está inspirada en la sirena Murgen, y plagada de tonos azules, rosas; con transparencias, bombers combinadas con vestidos (esta idea me enamoró), etc.

On the other hand, we have the collection of Mercedes Mercado called Murgen (more here). I've already seen other collections of this designer, and the truth, I always like her work. This is especially inspired by the mermaid Murgen and it's filled with blue, pink; with transparency, bombers combined with dresses (I love this idea), etc.

Ya casi para terminar tenemos la colección de Antonio Posadas (más información aquí). La colección Science como su nombre indica, estaba basada en la ciencia, en las figuras geométricas, en colores tales como el verde, azul noche, negro; fusionados con el tartán del clan MacLeod en el tejidos más original.

Almost to finish, we've got the Antonio Posadas' collection (more information here). The name of this collection is Science and as its name suggests, it is based on science, geometric shapes, in colors such as green, midnight blue, black; fused with the MacLeod clan tartan with the most original prints.

Y por último, una colección muy especial, ya que me ha permitido descubrir a esta artista Julia Rubio (aquí os dejo su página). No solo diseñadora, sino también ilustradora, nos presenta esta colección plagada de tonos blancos, y con contrastes amarillos, inspirada en el ser humano y su psicología en sí.

And finally, a very special collection, which has allowed me to find out this artist Julia Rubio (here you've her site). She's not just a designer, but also illustrator. She presents this collection full of whites, with yellow contrasts, inspired by the human being and his psychology.

Viktor&Rolf, lienzos estrellados e interminables flores.

A menudo existe una discusión entre si la moda es arte o no, cuando en mi opinión ni el concepto “moda” está a veces bien definido. Desde mi punto de vista, está claro, sin ninguna pega,  que la moda es arte, que hay prendas que alcanzan tal punto de inspiración, creación e historia, que si eso no es arte no sé que es. Sólo me basta poner el ejemplo de cualquier vestido de Elie Saab, o diseño de Dolce&Gabana.

Frequently, there's controversy about whether fashion is or isn't an art, when, in my opinion, sometimes the concept of "fashion" itself isn't even that well defined. From my perspective, it's pretty clear that fashion is an art: there are clothes which reach certain points of inspiration, creation and history, that, if they aren't art, then I have no clue what art is. Just show anyone an Elie Saab's dress, or a Dolce&Gabanna design.

En este post os traigo dos diseñadores que trabajan juntos y que descubrí hace poco leyendo en Vogue: Viktor Horsting y Rolf Snoeren. Resulta que se conocieron en la Academia de Arnhem de Arte y Diseño, y bueno tienen desde 1993 su casa de moda Victor&Rolf con sede en Amsterdam.

Lo cierto es que vi su colección de alta costura para este otoño/invierno, y me sorprendió por la originalidad; claramente, en mi opinión, no considero que sea “útil” para ponérselo, pero no pienso que sea eso en lo que se basa únicamente un diseño, aunque sea algo paradójico. El caso es, que la sencilla idea de los lienzos “estrellados” contra el cuerpo me encanta, me parece única; una forma de no hacer ya que la moda sea arte en sí, sino de proyectar arte y moda. Os dejo por aquí unas cuantas fotos de los vestidos que más me han gustado a mí, y el vídeo del desfile. 

Let's look at two designers who work together. I found them not too long ago reading Vogue: Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. It seems that they met in the Arnhem Academy of Art & Design and they've ran their own fashion house called Victor&Rolf since 1993 in Amsterdam. 

I saw their haute couture autumn/winter collection, and its originality blew me away. I don't think it's "useful" to actually wear it, but, paradoxically, I also don't think that's the only thing a design should serve to accomplish. The thing is, I love the simple idea of the crashing canvasses against the body. It's so unique; it's a way of making fashion not just an art, but also of projecting fashion AND art in unison. Here are a few pictures of the dresses that I like the most, plus the catwalk video.

Por otro lado, su colección de esta primavera/verano, no se queda nada atrás, la veo más “ponible” aunque igualmente difícil. Vuelve a tener ese toque de originalidad del que os hablaba anteriormente y que sin duda define a esta casa. A mí, la verdad, esos sombreros unidos a los vestidos como con ramas o flores me parecen maravillosos. 

On the other hand, their previous collection for spring/summer hasn't been left behind. It looks "easier to wear", although kind of difficult too. It's got that sort of original touch that I mentioned before, something that signifies the approach of this fashion house. Being honest, those hats joined to dresses via branches/flowers are just wonderful.

Supongo que a algunos no os gustará nada este tipo de diseño pero espero que se intente ver como arte en sí, no como la utilidad de qué llevar puesto o no. Y además, si os soy sincera, hay algún que otro “vestidillo” por ahí que yo me lo pondría sin dudarlo. Sea lo que sea, no podemos negar que son toda una inspiración: la idea, los estampados, e incluso esa forma que tienen los vestidos es tan bonita.

Siempre está bien descubrir nuevos diseñadores para inspirarnos a la hora de vestir, de peinarnos, de crear, de imaginar o de lo que sea - desde Dolce&Gabbana (mi auténtica perdición) hasta lo más extravagante. Y eso es todo queridos.

I imagine some of you won't like this kind of design at all, but I hope you can try to see it as art itself and not just something suitable for everyday wear. Also, there are a few little dresses that I would wear without a doubt. No matter what, we can't deny that they're not inspirational: the idea, the patterns, even the dress shape...

It's always cool to find new designers to inspire us when we have to get dressed, do our hair, create, imagine, or whatever - from Dolce & Gabanna (I'm a sucker for them) to the quirkiest ones. And that's everything, my dears.
