The virgin suicides.

Hi everyone! As you can see I have started writing my blog in Spanish, because it's my mother tongue and I think it's easier to express myself, blablabla, however it doesn't mean that I'm not going to write in English, I mean I'm doing a bilingual blog and well, I'll stop going on.

Today I am going to talk you about "The Virgin Suicides" a Sofia Coppola film released in 1999 and inspired by the novel (with the same name) by Jeffrey Eugenides, which tells the story about the short life of five sisters, the Lisbon sisters, who live in a neighborhood in Michigan with their strict and religious parents, which makes them being fascinating and inaccessible for a group of guys who quite obsessed with them.

Actually, I'm not going to talk about the movie (I only say that you should watch it asdhujsdygshadashda is an awesome movie), I 'm going to talk about the aesthetics of the film, the costumes, the scenery, and everything that is related to the fashion world. Because apart from the different things that Sofia Coppola has made in the fashion world, like the collection “Cruise” who Louis Vuitton made with her, Coppola has inspired many designers, makeup artist and photographers with the aesthetics of this film where apart from Lisbon siters' blond hair, their suicidal thoughts and their rooms (decorated with the personality of each one), the strong Naif influence just makes feel a strong attraction to all the people who has watched this film. In that way, the director get to focus the wardrobe (designed by Nancy Steiner), the scenery and even how the film has been recorded, in the innocence of the five sisters.

The most characteristic wardrobre that we can find is: night-dresses, sleeved maxi-dresses, florals prints, V-neck shirts, skirts line-A, 70's school uniforms, etc. Stressing nude and pastels colours, and occasionally bright colours. Anyway, Sofía leaves to each girl to show her personality trough her style, and her clothes, lying in a transtion between a little girl style and a woman style.

Finally, as I've said before, many designers as Otaduy, or photographers as Robert Harper have inspired in this aesthetic Naif . Here you have some of their photoshoots.

Bye-bye everyone! <3

    1. Hahaha I think that the end of the film gets the perfect combination between a teenager-film, sweet and at the same time a little traumatic haha.
